Welcome to Sacred Good Medicine

Welcome to Sacred Good Medicine, your place for Functional, Integrative, and Ancestral Health Care.  I am so glad you have found your way to this space.

Are you wondering what Functional and Integrative Medicine are?  Together they encompass the concept of recognizing the effects of your environment, your emotional state, what you eat and take into your body, your family history and genetics, as well as your life experiences and how you spend your time.  And they draw from many different health modalities and traditions for your care and treatment.  At Sacred Good Medicine, that can include allopathic care (traditional western medicine like you encounter in most US hospitals and clinics), cranioscral therapy, Maya Abdominal Massage, Ancestral and Spiritual care, herbs, and lifestyle changes, as well as many other possibilities.

At Sacred Good Medicine you can learn about your health and learn to provide self care to help you to feel your best and optimize your health.  I offer client-centered, spirit-led personalized respectful health care to meet your needs and goals.

Send me an email to discuss your health and care and set up your first appointment.  I look forward to serving you in your health care needs.

Ceci Córdova’s Lovely Interview with Midwife After Hours

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Roxanne Spring on Sunday, April 17. We had such a lovely conversation and I am so glad to be able to share it. This was originally aired at 11am Sunday April 17 2021 on Midwife After Hours with Roxanne Spring, CNM retired. Check into her podcasts at Valley1049.org

You can download this here. It’s about an hour and it is so dear to me. Thank you, Roxanne!

Ceci Córdova announces: Sacred Good Medicine is Re-opening in Ravenna!

I’m baaaack…….and so very very glad to be back!!

After pausing my practice and closing my office due to an injury two years ago, I am very happy to announce that I am re-opening Sacred Good Medicine, and I have a new office in the Ravenna neighborhood.

I continue to offer craniosacral therapy and Ancestral Hands on Healing to support healing from physical and emotional trauma as well as transitions. I also deliver Integrated Pregnancy and Postpartum Care and Integrated Lactation Care and support for nursing dyads (IBCLC and bodywork). You may already know that I also provide traditional and herbal support and treatments.

As an ARNP, CNM, CFNP, and IBCLC, I contract with most insurance companies, including state insurance, and have a sliding scale for those who are not insured. I support and welcome all people who wish my care.

My new office is in the Ravenna neighborhood. Appointments are available Monday-Friday with occasional weekend, evening, or home visits, when needed. People can learn more about my work and make appointments through https://www.sacredgoodmedicine.com/ Email or call me with questions. I look forward to talking with you.

Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive over the last two years. I have enjoyed all of you who have come to me or referred your clients for care. I am really looking forward to serving and working with you again.

Sacred Good Medicine is here for you.

Official IBCLC

Good news!

I am now an official IBCLC. (That’s International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.)

It’s nice to have the official credentials to bolster my many years of experience and studies. Combined with craniosacral therapy and tongue tie support, including frenotomy, when needed……that makes Sacred Good Medicine Integrated Lactation Care a one stop lactation support station.

Watch for Sacred Good Medicine reopening in winter 2021.

The Case for Midwives……

I’m proud to be represented in this article, The Case for Midwives in the Sunday, March 15 Seattle Times. The author and photographer depicted birth and midwives with great sensitivity, offering a very lovely and respectful view of the pregnant and birthing women represented here.

This article is timely in that in light of the effects of coronavirus on the hospitals and medical system, some women, who had previously chosen to birth in hospital, are opting to birth at home, and midwives in the Puget Sound area are rising to the occasion. On our private fb pages, midwives who are willing to take on new clients during this time have added their names to a list so that other midwives can help prospective clients find midwives in their vicinity, who meet the criteria desired by searching families.

While I am no longer associated with RVCC, I maintain my own private practice, Full Moon Midwifery, and offer craniosacral therapy and Ancestral Hands on Healing with each prenatal visit. During this time of social distancing, I am offering on screen visits, which unfortunately preclude bodywork but can still include plenty of time to talk, teach, learn, and listen. We can each sit down with a cup of tea and discuss pregnancy and planning for birth and postpartum. Laboring, birthing, and postpartum also rate bodywork for both mama and baby. Lactation education and support are also part of the care at Full Moon Midwifery. For a full view of services provided at Sacred Good Medicine, please see the home page, which describes and has links to Full Moon Midwifery, Integrated Pregnancy and Postpartum Care, and Integrated Lactation Care.

If you are considering home birth to avoid hospital during the pandemic, please email me to discuss your options. I would love to talk with you and hear what you are looking for. I am also happy to refer you to someone closer to you if you are located in another area.

Happy New Year from Sacred Good Medicine!

Happy New Year!

In the new year, Sacred Good Medicine is applying to contract with insurance companies to make it more affordable for people who need post-accident care, care for pregnancy discomforts, postpartum care, tongue tie assessment and release for their baby, or breastfeeding help. It can take 30-90 days to complete the contracts. But health care shouldn’t have to wait. So, in the interim, so people don’t have to wait for the insurance to take effect, I am offering a 50% discount for the month of January. In addition, I will provide you with a super bill you can submit to your insurance company, which they can address as they do out-of-network providers (usually paying 60-80% of the already reduced fee).

Sacred Good Medicine services include:

craniosacral therapy

pregnancy and post partum care

torticollis

pelvic floor and back pain

birth injury

breastfeeding medicine: latch and feeding concerns

infants: craniosacral therapy, tongue tie evaluation, frenotomy

torticollis

craniosacral therapy for general health concerns: injury, brain injury, acute or chronic illness or injury, anxiety depression

I’ll keep you apprised of insurance contracts as they are finalized.

I would appreciate it if you would share this information with friends, colleagues, and clients. Thank you.

I can be reached by phone at 206-501-9615 and through my website: SacredGoodMedicine.com

Sacred Good Medicine presents a Free Clinic for Infant Craniosacral Therapy

Hi Ho!

I’m offering a free clinic for infant craniosacral therapy at Sacred Good Medicine on Friday November 16 from 10a-2pm.  There will be four one-hour appointments available.

Getting born is hard work for babies, too. What happens during pregnancy and birth affect how a baby feels after birth and how they move, latch, and breastfeed. Craniosacral Therapy helps your baby to integrate their birth experience, recover from birth, and is also an effective treatment for sucking and breastfeeding issues. For more information, click the link below.

If you or a friend or client has a baby with a need for craniosacral therapy, please share this information with them. This could be a good introduction to CST or an option for someone who might otherwise be unable to afford CST care.

Read more about craniosacral therapy for infants here, and email Ceci Córdova to schedule your visit.

GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS, AND GOOD NEWS AGAIN…..REASONS TO CELEBRATE!

September and October have been busy months for Sacred Good Medicine.  Lots of things happening.

There’s been good news, bad news, and good news again.   Good news:  We’ve had wonderful classes, beautiful treatments, and new classes and window signs coming!  Bad news: our websites were hacked and were down for a while.  More good news:  The websites are all cleaned up again and I am ready to celebrate the end of the hacking, the fresh start on my websites, the upcoming new signs and classes, and my new services.

AND SO WE CELEBRATE!

To celebrate all the excitement and good news, Sacred Good Medicine is offering reduced prices for the month of October:  50% off treatment appointments: $100 for a one hour session.  If you have a persistent ache or condition, this is a great time to treat it with Ancestral Hands on Healing and craniosacral therapy.  If we’ve worked together before, it’s a great time for a follow up treatment or just come in for a tune up or health support.

The 50% off price applies to gift cards, as well, which make good gifts for the holidays and for yourself for your own near future.

BEAUTIFUL TREATMENTS

As always, I offer Craniosacral Therapy and Ancestral Hands on Healing for

• physical and spiritual pain and trauma (includes injury, migraines, inflammation, stress, unresolved distress and memories)
• restoration and healing
• head and body injury, including brain injury and concussion, sprains and strains
• spiritual healing, including anxiety and uncertainty
• Infant breastfeeding concerns, pain, asymmetry, torticollis, birth injury
• Body work and spiritual care for the childbearing year, including positioning, alignment, comfort, transition, community engagement, and spiritual support.

I’ve been thrilled with the work I’ve been doing lately:  deep, gentle, attention to long painful and inflamed ligaments and tendons in the sacral area.  I am seeing beautiful response to the sacral and abdominal work I do and immediate recognition of change and relief from long term pain related to external trauma, or childbirth.  This is applicable to the entire body.

If you have pain that you’ve learned to live with over the years or a pain or discomfort that has cropped up recently, please consider Craniosacral Therapy and Ancestral Hands on Healing with me at Sacred Good Medicine.  It is effective, profound, sacred healing, and even fun.  I’d love to see you and offer treatment so that you can feel better, more whole, and go about your day and work without attending to the small and large pains that have been troubling you.  Contact me here to make an appointment.

NEW SERVICES

I have been studying tongue tie and how it relates to breastfeeding,  growth and development, and craniosacral therapy through classes and internships over the past few years.  I’ll be writing more about tongue tie at Sacred Good Medicine over the next months.

Also, I’ve integrated a new dimension into Dancing for Birth, with the addition of yoga related poses to the dancing and positioning we already do.  Come check it out.  For October and November, the cost is $10 rather than the usual $15, as part of the Celebration described above.  And, of course, the first visit is always free, so you can check it out.  We’d love to have you.  Come join us.  Check the schedule for times and dates.

Stay tuned for more information about specific practices and care.

PREVIOUS AND UPCOMING CLASSES

In September I had the pleasure of presenting my preliminary offerings of some of my classes from Sacred Good Medicine to participants at the Pacific Women’s Herbal Conference.

I had 30 women show up to learn about Emerging Healers.   What a joy it was to work with others who were interested in exploring what it means to be a healer, connecting with our earth and with their own indigenous ancestors.  I will be offering this class to all in my office in the U District as a one time introduction and later as a year long series.  Stay tuned for more information about Emerging Healers for all people of all origins and identities.

Women’s Self Care/Self Blessings was also well received and so much fun!  We talked about the meaning of Self Care, what it means to practice Self Care, and some of the specifics of self care.  We did self breast massage and discussed yoni steams and therapeutic orgasms.  Another 30 women shared and received each others’ wisdom and experiences about self care, a rare and wonderful delight.   I will be offering Women’s Self Care/Self Blessings both as an overview and as a series at Sacred Good Medicine.  Also, a program in Self Care for all people of all ages.  More info to come.

Late October will bring an intro class for Integrated Pregnancy and Postpartum Care treatments and program so you can learn more about the treatments I provide for the Childbearing Year.

I put Dancing for Birth and Love, MILK, and Infant Massage on hold for the months of September and October due to my internships and yoga class.  I’m looking forward to starting those up again and incorporating the new yoga information into Dancing for Birth and the breastfeeding knowledge into Love, MILK, and Infant Massage.

I will be announcing class dates and times soon. In the meantime, let me know if you are interested in specific classes.

And click here to make an appointment for your treatment.  Check out the website for more information about Ancestral Hands on Healing and Craniosacral Therapy.

Yoga Prescriptions at Sacred Good Medicine

I had the most fun last week!  I was studying and practicing yoga poses with Carol Gray. I was learning how yoga poses can be instrumental in improving comfort for moms and increasing space and comfort for baby during pregnancy. They can also facilitate an easier, more comfortable birth.  Sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it?

In labor and late pregnancy, I have often advised particular postures, poses, or actions to achieve baby turning, maternal comfort, or increased space for baby to descend.  This class validated and gave names to some old postures and actions I have used for years. That was gratifying.  It also opened up new ideas that I’d not heard of or tried before.  We had a great time and I look forward to working more with yoga postures and, of course, dance moves, to make more room for mama and baby to share their space as gracefully and comfortably as possible.

Come join us for Dancing For Birth on Wednesdays from 11:30a-1p.  We’ll do some dancing, some yoga and dance postures, learn some good labor moves and general good advice and comfort measures for pregnancy and birth.

If you are wanting more personal attention, feel free to make an appointment for some individual body work.  We can work to help you feel your best and to have enough room for both you and your baby to feel comfortable throughout pregnancy and through labor using craniosacral therapy and posture control combined with specific “yoga prescriptions.”

So looking forward to seeing you!

Self Care

People talk a LOT about self care, what it is, what it isn’t.

I maintain that self care is not just a thing you do but a way you live. It involves planning for maintenance, survival, and honoring of yourself as a physical, emotional, and spiritual being.

Some forms of self care are spontaneous, others responsibly scripted, and still others can be incorporated as a spiritual practice while caring for our peace of mind and physical and mental health. Those of you whom I have had the pleasure of treating know that I include self care teaching as part of each appointment, whether it is specific physical, spiritual, or emotional practices. Your own health care needs to be handled by YOU, so, in effect, all your real health care should include self care.

I’ve created some new classes which are all about self care and complement the care I provide in the office, preparing you to support your own glorious self to whichever degree you want. The first classes I am introducing are Ancestral Abdominal Massage and Self Care, Breast Health and Self Care, and Self Care Rituals. Each class will allow you to honor self care as part of your daily routines. They involve physical care, herbs, emotional and spiritual care, and rituals you can create and do yourself. Through these classes you will learn to foster and nurture your own health on every level. Ancestral Abdominal Massage and Breast Health Self Care classes also include a private personal bodywork session with me in my office with instruction for your specific self care needs.

Check them out here.

Stay tuned…..there is still more to come!
