Craniosacral Therapy and Ancestral Hands on Healing in Pregnancy, Birth, and PostPartum
Birth is normal but sometimes recovering from birth takes a little help. Laying on of hands is the most original, indigenous, intrinsic, elemental, and intuitive way of helping. I am honored to carry this traditional healing modality forward and share an ancient tradition with you.
In pregnancy, craniosacral therapy and Ancestral Hands on Healing are useful for facilitating optimum positioning of baby, relieving discomforts of pregnancy, promoting optimum circulation, and preparing you for a safe and satisfying labor and birth. Postpartum Care helps you in recovering from birth injury, integrating your birth experience, bonding with your baby.

Craniosacral Therapy and Ancestral Hands on Healing in Infants
Getting born is hard work for babies and for moms and birthing parents. Movement is essential for the birthing parent and for the baby in birth, also during gestational development.
What happens during pregnancy and birth affect how a baby feels after birth and how they move, latch, and breastfeed. The baby’s position during pregnancy, the length of labor, and the method of birth all have impacts. These can all cause different kinds of restrictions, strains, and tensions. Craniosacral therapy can help relieve these strain patterns and tensions as well as some of the actual restrictions. Craniosacral Therapy helps your baby to integrate their birth experience, recover from birth and is also an effective treatment for sucking and breastfeeding issues.
Craniosacral therapy is also an integral part of treatment for tongue tie though it cannot release a tongue tie. Craniosacral therapy can help to relax strains and tensions to enable a more complete release by frenotomy and can also help to recover full mobility after frenotomy.
Some of the symptoms and concerns of babies that can be helped with craniosacral therapy
Breastfeeding concerns and problems (latch, suck, positioning, )
Torticollis or always prefers one side over the other, usually turned to one side
Plagiocephaly—flat head–can be related to torticollis
Support for tongue tie or frenotomy, if diagnosed
Unhappy/uncomfortable/cries a lot
Digestive troubles
Reflux
Colic
Restricted movement due to pain or swaddling, anything that causes pain.
Worried look on their face (can indicate strain or pain)
WHAT CRANIOSaCraL THERAPY IS LIKE FOR BABIES
Craniosacral therapy can be done with babies while they are in their parents’ arms, in my arms, or on a table. I sometimes hold the babies as they do their own unwinding through turning and movement. I also frequently treat mamas with babies in their arms. Often they both get treated together. Sometimes treating the parent can treat the baby and vice versa. Toddlers are often treated while on the go and I may be crawling around the floor with them.
Babies are usually quiet during CST treatments but also may move of their own accord while I simply hold and support them to do their own work. They usually just act like babies, although they may make a physical or vocal response to a release in their body. Usually they respond with relief though they may appear to sleep or become drowsy.
As with adults, each person, small or large, responds in their own way to their own treatment. Each response is valid.
