The Joys of Sacred Health Care

I am fortunate to have work which satisfies my soul and gives me the pleasure of helping others. I practice Sacred Health Care. My health care work is actually meditation and is part of my spiritual practice. It is sacred because it comes from Spirit and brings healing into our world.

I’ve just come from a treatment with a friend which embodied the best of treatments for me. For one, and this is big: we had no time limit. By the time we were finished, three hours had passed and neither of us was tired, simply the work was done for the day and I feel joy to have been able to work to both of our hearts’ content.

Second of all, we talked, we had a platica, as it is called in traditional curanderismo: heart to heart, corazón a corazón, and it was profound for us both. We were equals sharing our hearts and learning from one another.

Third, she was open to the work, and ready, allowing the work to occur as needed,  physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I am a hollow reed or pipe, through which the spirits and healers, my ancestors and guides, play and work, bringing healing and balance, removing what is ready to go. They worked her through my hands and heart and our exchange of words and she experienced healing, some of which I witnessed as she lay on the table and some of which will unfold over the next few days.

One of my favorite things is when I feel/see the change, for example, when I witness a relaxation of a compression as I did today. And as the compression relaxed, and I breathed a sigh of satisfaction, she spoke her experience: “Oh my god, I can feel the flow is starting again, that the thing holding it back is GONE! My face feels free and the pain is gone. And the energy and the life flow is back!” What a powerful and revelatory moment for us both! I appreciated the recognition and validation of my experience of her sphenoid moving from compressed and static to free movement and its own elation at the return of vitality. She could feel the difference without my telling her what I’d seen. Very satisfying for us both.

Not all visits last three hours. Most run one hour for a return or up to two hours for an initial assessment. Three hours is extremely unusual and most treatments would end naturally around the one hour mark, so this was an especial treat.

I love my work. I love that when I leave my office I feel free and rested, having spent the hours in meditation and spiritual healing practice. It gives me pleasure and causes me to grow and learn. I love my hands. I love my heart. I also love your hands and heart and wish for you to use your own hands to follow your heart. That is what we are put here to do: Love our hands, our hearts, our neighbors, and allow love to flow through us to help one another. I am doing what I am meant to be doing and I am grateful.
